And who doesn't love a secret weapon, amiright?
Today, I want to dive into a topic that can feel a bit daunting but is absolutely essential for driving traffic: keywords. Whether you’re focusing on Pinterest or other platforms, understanding and using keywords effectively can make a world of difference.
Why do keywords even matter?
I know you're thinking it, because I was too!
Keywords are the bridge between your content and your audience. When used correctly, they help your ideal clients find you easily. Think of keywords as the GPS coordinates that guide people to your awesome content. If you're using Pinterest to drive traffic, (and you should be!) keywords should be a crucial part of your strategy. Pinterest is a visual search engine, so using the right words to help your audience find you is going to help your reach tenfold.
Here's a few steps to get you started:
Take Time To Brainstorm. Think about what your audience might be searching for. If you’re in the health niche, keywords might include "healthy recipes," "workout tips," or "mental wellness." Get inside the mind of your audience and write down phrases for what their pain points are- as if THEY were the ones searching.
Use The Pinterest Search Bar. Type in your main keyword and see what suggestions pop up. These suggestions are gold because they show what people are actively searching for. Then, search the phrases you wrote down and see what else pops up. Do you see common words and phrases used? Those would be important to use because they are being searched a lot.
Use The Keywords You Discover Everywhere. Use your keywords in your pin titles, descriptions, and even on the images themselves. This helps Pinterest understand and categorize your content, making it more discoverable.
Once you discover what your keywords and keyword phrases are- those that you now KNOW that your audience IS searching for- keep a current running list. Check the Pinterest search bar often and see if new searches are trending and update accordingly. Keyword research is so important and if you're not doing it, commit to trying it out today! It doesn't have to take long, but this might be the sprinkles you're missing on top of your sundae. ;)
Two more things:
If you're ready to understand my this strategy even more, then you should check out the guide I created, Turn Traffic To Treasure. There are visuals inside that guide about what this EXACT process looks like!
If you're ready to dive in completely with Pinterest, then The Best Pinterest Bundle is for you! It's more in depth PLUS, you'll also get the 32 Pins Template which will help you to get your content bank started.
Are you ready to at least give this process a try? Even if you aren't using Pinterest to drive traffic (yet!), you can use it to see what keywords are being searched. What a valuable and FREE resource!
See you on the next blog!
