"You can't write a whole blog post about Pinterest SEO."

WATCH ME.

Pinterest SEO might seem like a boring topic. Like, how long can one person ramble on about SEO and make it sound interesting? I get it, I get it. SEO on any level might seem overwhelming and like something you can't (or don't want) to understand. I know how you feel because I felt the same way. That was until I realized that SEO on any platform can be on MY SIDE if I simply understood and started to master it.

Don't be discouraged if you don't master it quickly. I am still learning and the world of the interwebs is changing every day. So, things move quickly and it can often be a challenge to keep up! However, I have set out to understand SEO on Pinterest because I believe that Pinterest is the BEST platform to use to help you drive traffic to your digital marketing business! As a visual search engine, it's ability to point a warm audience your way is remarkable. But, there's a few things we need to understand first. SEO being one of the main ones.

It's important to realize that Pinterest is not just a visual discovery platform; it's also a powerful search engine. With over 450 million monthly active users searching for ideas, inspiration, and products, optimizing your Pinterest content for search engines is SO IMPORTANT to getting your pins seen by more people. In this blog post, I will walk you through everything you need to know about Pinterest SEO and how to optimize your content for maximum visibility. SO LET'S DIVE IN.

UNDERSTANDING PINTEREST SEO

Pinterest SEO is the process of optimizing your pins and boards to rank higher in Pinterest's search results. Unlike traditional search engines like Google, Pinterest's algorithm prioritizes fresh content as well as user engagement. This means that to succeed on Pinterest, you need to focus on creating high-quality, engaging content that resonates with your audience. For the rest of this blog post, I am going to highlight 5 things you NEED to know about optimizing your profile so you can get recognized and ranked on Pinterest.

  1. KEYWORD RESEARCH The first step in optimizing your Pinterest content for SEO is keyword research. Start by brainstorming a list of relevant keywords and phrases that describe your content. Use Pinterest's search bar to see what keywords are popular in your niche and incorporate them into your pin descriptions, board titles, and board descriptions. Another great idea is to search your keywords on Google Trends. This gives you the opportunity to see what keywords are trending. Then, head over to Pinterest to compare and see if they are highly searched on both platforms. If they are, then start building a list of keywords to use. But, you want to make sure that you actually use them! I can't tell you how many times I talk to digital marketers and they tell me that they forget to use their keywords when promoting their materials. That's like saying you forgot to put gas in your car!! Build the list and then USE THEM.

  2. OPTIMIZING YOUR PINS That leads me to my next point, which involves using your keywords. Once you have your list of keywords, it's time to optimize your pins. Use your target keywords in your pin title, description, and alt text. Make sure your pins are visually appealing and include a clear call-to-action to encourage users to click through to your website. However, make sure that you're NOT "keyword stuffing". You want your captions, titles and descriptions to sound natural and how you would normally describe your products. Don't add words just to add words. Also, hashtags are NOT necessary.

  3. CREATING ENGAGING BOARDS In addition to optimizing your pins, you should also optimize your boards. Use descriptive board titles and descriptions that include your target keywords. Organize your boards into relevant categories to make it easier for users to find your content. Don't overthink this part too much. You want your boards to be engaging, applicable and easy to navigate. You want the descriptions to involve keywords and to apply towards the things your ideal audience is searching for. It doesn't, however, need to be perfect.

  4. PIN REGULARLY When it comes to pinning, you want to find a regular rhythm that works for YOU. If you can't pin 30 pins a day, then don't! Trying to pin that much when you don't have the bandwidth will only lead to burnout and exhaustion. And that literally helps no one. Figure out what you CAN do each day, and then stay very consistent. Pinterest loves fresh pins, active users, and thrives on consistency! In The Best Pinterest Bundle that I offer, I give you the EXACT strategy that I use daily. If you're stressed about how much you think you need to pin, you'll want to check that out because you'll be pleasantly surprised at how I make this work!

  5. MONITOR YOUR PERFORMANCE Once you've optimized your Pinterest content for SEO, it's important to monitor your performance. Use Pinterest Analytics to track the performance of your pins and boards and make adjustments to your strategy as needed. When it comes to making money online and using Pinterest to drive traffic, it's all about the small tweaks that will help to get you to where you want to be. And often, one tiny adjustment is enough to hit the jackpot! But, you have to be willing to be consistent, patient and track everything.

Following these simple steps will get you headed into the right direction and quickly! Optimizing your SEO on Pinterest will get you seen by more people on the platform. Plus, it has a higher chance of bringing in your ideal audience when you use the keywords correctly. Keep tweaking your keywords and keep trying new things until consistent traffic, leads and sales start to come in. It IS possible and it isn't hard. You just have to be willing to keep going!
