The 3 Platforms I Recommend for Driving Traffic & Why

When people ask me where they should focus to drive more traffic, I always wish there was a neat, one-size-fits-all answer. But here’s the truth: the “best” platform depends on your business, your audience, and your bandwidth.

That said, after years of testing, tweaking, and occasionally facepalming over what didn’t work, there are three platforms I almost always recommend and that's because they keep proving themselves over and over again. They’re not just popular. They’re designed to help you get in front of new eyes consistently, build momentum, and keep traffic flowing without feeling like you’re chained to your phone 24/7.

Are you ready? Let's dive in!

  1. Pinterest- The Evergreen Traffic Machine If your goal is long-term, compounding traffic, Pinterest is hard to beat. The magic of Pinterest is that it’s not a social media platform, it’s a search engine in disguise. That means your content has a much longer shelf life than a typical post on Instagram or Facebook.

When you create a pin linked to your blog post, lead magnet, or product, that pin can keep bringing in traffic for months or even years. This is because people use Pinterest the way they use Google: they type in keywords to find ideas, inspiration, and solutions. If your content solves a problem or helps them move toward a goal, they’ll click through.

The best part? You don’t need to post constantly. A well-optimized pinning strategy might only take a few hours a month to maintain, but it can generate consistent, reliable traffic while you’re off doing literally anything else. That's why Pinterest is the GOAT of driving traffic. I wish more online business owners understood this because it can absolutely be a gamechanger. 2. YouTube- The Long-Form Trust Builder YouTube is another search-based platform with massive staying power. But beyond traffic, YouTube builds something incredibly valuable: trust. People who watch your videos hear your voice, see your face, and get to know your personality. That connection makes them far more likely to click through to your website, sign up for your list, or buy from you down the line.

The beauty of YouTube is that your content works twice as hard for you: first when you post it (hello, subscribers) and then over the long haul, as it continues to show up in search results and recommended videos. Like Pinterest, a single piece of content can keep bringing in views and clicks long after you hit publish.

Yes, it’s more work upfront. You need to plan, film, edit, and optimize. But if you can commit to a consistent schedule, even if it’s just one video a month, you’re creating assets that will serve you for years, not just a week. Check out my YouTube! It's still small but this is one I am actively working on.

  3. Email- The Traffic You Own Here’s the thing about all the social and search platforms: you don’t own them. Algorithms change. Accounts get suspended. Audiences shift. That’s why email is my third, and arguably most important, traffic recommendation. And that's because it’s traffic you actually own.

When you build an email list, you’re creating a direct line to your audience that no algorithm can mess with. You can send people to your newest blog post, your latest video, your best freebie, or your next offer, and it shows up right in their inbox.

Email also has the highest conversion rates of any platform. Why? Because people who give you their email have already said, “Yes, I want to hear from you.” That means they’re warmer, more engaged, and far more likely to click when you send something valuable their way.

So, what's the key to using these three platforms together in a way that won't burn you out?

You don’t have to be everywhere to drive traffic. You just have to be strategic. Start with one platform that gives you search-based reach (Pinterest or YouTube), and pair it with email to keep that traffic coming back. Once you’re comfortable, you can layer in the other.

Think of it like this: Pinterest or YouTube bring in new people, and email keeps them in your world. This combo means you’re not always starting from scratch trying to find your next click. It means you’re building a system that feeds itself over time.

The real win? You can do this without posting on social media every day, without chasing every trend, and without feeling like you have to sacrifice your sanity for growth. And THAT is exactly how to sustainably work to drive traffic to your business over time without wanting to lose your mind.
